Company History
A family-owned business, JFC Manufacturing Co Ltd was set up in 1987 in Tuam, Co Galway to supply specialised plastic products to the agricultural industry. The company has since grown to employ 200 people with about 90 of those at the Tuam plant and the others in the UK, Holland, and Poland and now sells to a variety of sectors worldwide, including construction, healthcare, recycling, chemical, catering and marine. Exports account for 60 % of the company's total sales with sales offices in Britain, Holland and Poland.
2001 saw the acquisition of PD Roto Mouldings in Shropshire and in 2003 Delleve Plastics in Stratford. 2004 saw the opening of the state of the art recycling plant at St. Helens, Merseyside which is well on its way towards an operational capacity of 20,000 tonnes of mixed bale plastic bottles per annum. This recycled material is in turn sent in HDPE pellet form to both, JFC Manufacturing Tuam and JFC Plastics Ltd to make JFC CorriPipe , a Twin wall corrugated High Density Polyethylene drainage pipe used for land and highway drainage.
Camtech Environmental in Shropshire became the newest member of the JFC family, also in 2004, specialising in the design and manufacture of products for the wastewater and process industries. In September 2004, €4m was invested in a new factory in Poland to serve customers based in eastern and central Europe. Furthermore in Tuam, a 22,000ft extension was added to the plant - 10,000ft of this space dedicated to the R&D facility.
On Friday 13th May 2005, JFC Plastics was the winner of the "Best Environmental Initiative" category at the 2005 UK plastics Industry Awards held in London. JFC's mission statement is to have the minimum impact on the environment and make the maximum use of existing resources - "If you insist on burying plastic, bury it as JFC CorriPipe ".
The story of how this Irish firm has expanded from humble beginnings in Tuam in 1987 to its present international status is a story of dogged determination by its Managing Director, John Concannon, his wife Patricia and their staff.
